Q: How should I pick a wedding photographer?
A: It's all about the chemistry. Do you like their energy? If you don't,
good photos won't gel, you will never be satisfied, and you will not be
happy with the pictures. You should feel a soul-to-soul with your
photographers; they will be playing a big part in your wedding celebration.
What is out budget? Without compromising the integrity of your photos,
choose a photographer that you can afford but also love what they do. Choose
a photographer who has a style and demeanor you like.
Q: How do you photograph people who don't want their pictures taken?
A: We remind you to breathe and just be with us, and this is something that they will look back on forever. For example: We'll have you two kiss and then get back to looking at us to remind you to be grounded with each other. With two photographers present we honestly capture your essence.
Q: How much experience do you have?
A: Between the two of us, we have over 10 years of experience doing freelance photography, and over 5 years working in a portrait studio taking pictures of families, engagement pictures, small animals and much, much more!A: Between the two of us, we have over 10 years of experience doing freelance photography, and over 5 years working in a portrait studio taking pictures of families, engagement pictures, small animals and much, much more!
Q: What's the difference between digital and film?
A: Digital has many advantages over film. More accurate color, better low-light ambiance, plus, we take as many shots as we want to and edit later. Any shot can be color, b/w, or sepia.
Q: What is your photographic style?
A: More photojournalistic, less formal "posed". We do historical posing
but they are quick, painless and fun. We still love traditional group shots
but we just would like you to tell us what you want. This event is yours.
Q: Is it better to see each other before the ceremony?
A: We prefer it since it streamlines the amount of time we need to take
photos after the ceremony from 15-45 minutes. It is also one of the only
times you two can connect without being overwhelmed by your family and
guests. But it is your choice. We will always respect the time-honored
tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony.
Q: What do you need from me to tell you what photographs I want?
A: We can work from a list that you provide beforehand (which is best) or
since you are right there for the entire session we can decide on-the-spot
what photographs to take.
Q: Is there a retainer fee?
A: There is a retainer fee of $100.00 that is required to secure your
date that will be applied towards your balance at the time of contract
signing. We accept cash, check, and money order. The rest of the balance is
due 10 days before the wedding.
Q: How much lead time do I need to book you for a photo shoot?
A: Anywhere from one week to two years. Certain times of the year book
out a year in advance. Also, particular dates are more popular than others.
We photograph a select number of weddings a year in order to maintain a high
level of service and deliver the photographs in a few short months. Please
call us for availability. We only do one event per day so if it is a prime
weekend like Labor Day, we usually are booked at least a year in advance.
But we also welcome last minute weddings. So just give us a call.
Q: When do we get the wedding photographs?
A: The images of your day will be online and proofing ready in 6-8 weeks.
Q: Where did you get your training?
A: Esther was self-taught in photography and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland; CA. Robert
has primarily done mostly freelance work and will be on-hand to capture what
is going on around the first lenses.
Q: Where are you located and do you charge travel fees?
A: In regards to travel fees, any place beyond the Bay Area in
California, we would require hotel accommodations. Outside of California, we
require roundtrip airfare, accommodations, and possibly rental car or
transportation expenses covered as well.
Q: Can I arrange to meet with you and review your portfolio
in-person?
A: Yes, of course! I would love to show you some of my portrait work
because currently I am still building my portfolio for weddings.
